Local Landlady's Leap Of Faith

A Stafford pub has raised £1,100 to benefit pre-school children with special needs in a 12 month charity drive - that even saw landlady Chyrell Standish jump from a plane!

The Joxer Brady's on St. Martin's Square raised the cash after finding out that the lead singer of local band, Pelo, who play at the pub regularly, had a two year old daughter with cerebral palsy.

Landlady Chyrell raised the majority of the money through a sponsored parachute jump, but charity head shaves, raffles and live music nights have all contributed to the funds which will be donated to the local Portage Service, who support the children and their families in their own homes using a variety of specialist toys and equipment.

Chyrell, who runs the Marston's pub with her partner Sam Swift, said: “All the staff here have helped raise the money and we want to thank our customers for giving generously. We have had a lot of fun raising the money and all for a worthy cause.”

The pub is planning to start up a fresh charity drive at the end of summer, although details of events are yet to be confirmed.
