Whether you are new to the trade or have some knowledge we have a package that will help support you.

BII Pre-Entry Awareness

Before you go any further we would advise that you complete the PEAT (Pre-Entry Awareness Training). This is an e-learning package that will identify the responsibilities which you need to consider before signing a tenancy/lease agreement. It is accredited and designed by the BIIAB, the Ofqual Regulated awarding body, the professional body for the licenced retail industry and is now mandatory throughout the tenanted/leased division.

The programme costs £20 + VAT and will take an average of 2 hours to complete, but don't worry you have 30 days to complete from date of entry. To access the PEAT follow this link.

Marston's Workshop Support

The "Stepping Stones" workshops have been developed to help you get fully equipped with the necessary expertise to succeed in the pub & club business.

Having recently received approval from the BIIAB for Good Practice Recognition, you now have the opportunity of sitting the examination ILRO (Introduction to Licenced Retail Operations) qualification for the cost of only £45pp.

Our workshops have elements to assist both newcomers and experienced licensees.

The workshops steer well away from the rigid concept of training and introduces a completely practical approach. Designed to be both relevant and engaging, the 'hands on' scheme gives new and existing licensees the skills needed to run a profitable pub.

"I found the meetings were a very good opportunity to bounce ideas and get feedback (I will be hunting for hot dogs today!!). The Five Books have been and will continue to be an invaluable reference guide to help improve my business and keep me on the right side of the law."
Andrea @ The Ostrich, Derby

The whole programme is not exclusive to licensees either; it is for their staff too!

We recognise that eighty percent of sales made in pubs are by staff, and that how they work is an essential factor in a pub's success.

The focus is on building the business bit by bit. The workshops are unique in the industry and offers a flexible programme which gives value for money as opposed to the expensive, rigid, old style courses. The programme aims to make ordering from 'The Bar' straightforward for those wanting to expand or improve a part of their business.

The emphasis is on: "we won't tell you how - we'll show you how". By listening to what people say they need, we have put together the most common sense, straightforward programme available.
